Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ5 GT SynScan GoTo is a versatile mount that can be used in both azimuthal and equatorial modes. In equatorial mode you track celestial objects accurately, ideal for astrophotography with long exposure times and autoguiding. Thanks to the SynScan software with a database of 42,900 objects, you can find any target in seconds and the mount will automatically track it.

For purely visual observation, you can also use the mount in azimuthal mode. The advantage is that you don't have to align the telescope polar, making the setup quick and easy. Moreover, instead of counterweights, you can also place a second telescope in parallel - ideal for using two instruments side by side during observing sessions.

The AZ-EQ5 GT is equipped with modern timing belt drive, microstep stepper motors and dual encoders. As a result, alignment is maintained even if you manually move the telescope in between. The drive also operates quietly thanks to whisper quiet slewing technology.

With a load capacity of 15 kg and the sturdy steel tripod (51 mm legs), the AZ-EQ5 GT provides sufficient stability for medium to larger telescopes, including refractors such as the Askar APO 103/700. For transportation, the mount is light enough to take with you to dark observing locations.
