The Optolong L-Pro Clip Filter Canon EOS APS-C is specially designed for photographing deep-sky objects from areas with light pollution. The filter clips directly into the camera body and increases contrast by allowing the main emission lines of nebulae (H-alpha, OIII, SII, H-beta, NII) to pass through, while strongly suppressing distracting artificial light and air glow (skyglow).
Unlike narrowband filters that limit color reproduction, the L-Pro is a multiband pass filter. This means that stars, galaxies, reflection nebulae and globular clusters are faithfully rendered in color, without excessive color casts. You can also expose up to three times longer than without a filter without overexposing the sky background.
The filter coating is applied via a high-quality IBAD (ion-beam assisted deposition) process. This makes the filter scratch-resistant, resistant to temperature fluctuations and guaranteed durable in use. The high transmission (>95%) in the pass bands and strong blocking of interfering emission lines ensure maximum signal-to-noise ratio in deep-sky photography.
Application
This clip filter is ideal for:
- Photography of emission nebulae such as Orion (M42) and the Veil Nebula
- Registration of galaxies and globular clusters with natural color image
- Use in urban or light-polluted areas
- Longer exposures with a Canon EOS APS-C DSLR without overexposing the sky background
