Optolong Filters L-Pro 1.25” is a premium broadband filter designed to suppress distracting light pollution without sacrificing color reproduction of deep-sky objects. Unlike small-band filters, this filter allows multiple wavelengths to pass through, including H-beta, O-III and H-alpha, so that galaxies, nebulae and starfields retain their natural colors. This makes it particularly suitable for astrophotography with color cameras or DSLRs, even from urban or suburban locations.
Thanks to the multilayer FMC coating, reflection is greatly reduced and transmission remains high. This allows you to better capture subtle structures in nebulae or spiral arms of galaxies. Because the filter is on a 1.25” mount, it fits virtually all standard eyepieces and camera adapters. For astrophotographers, this means more contrast in the sky background and a much more natural color image than with more aggressive narrowband filters.
Application
The Optolong Filters L-Pro 1.25” filter is ideal for astrophotography in areas with moderate to strong light pollution. Don't expect miracles in extremely bright city light, but do expect a significantly better balance between sky background and deep-sky objects. For visual observation, the filter works to a limited extent; its real power lies in photography with DSLRs, CMOS or CCD cameras.
