The Optolong Clear Sky Filter 82 mm is specially designed for wide-angle photography of the night sky and deep-sky objects with photo lenses. The filter simply screws into the 82 mm filter thread of your lens and provides high-contrast images by blocking disturbing light from street lights. This darkens the sky background and brings out the fine structures of the Milky Way better.
Unlike classic interference filters such as CLS or UHC, this filter can be used with wide-angle lenses without any problems. Interference filters require perpendicular incident light and are therefore unsuitable for extreme wide-angle shots. The Clear Sky Filter solves this and makes it easier to take beautiful widefield photos, for example of meteor swarms or the aurora.
Also in nature and macro photography, this filter has added value: red and brown tones, such as in autumn leaves or sunsets, are enhanced and better distinguished. Thanks to the special neodymium oxide glass, yellow light is effectively filtered out - an effect that can hardly be achieved in post-processing.
