The ZWO ASI676MC is a versatile color camera with a unique square sensor format designed specifically for all-sky shooting, meteor hunting and high-resolution planetary photography. The Sony IMX676 Starvis 2 sensor delivers a resolution of 3552 × 3552 pixels (12.6 MP) and combines backlighting with full amp glow-free performance. As a result, you'll capture sharp, noise-free images at both short and longer exposures.
Thanks to its small pixel size of 2.0 µm, the ASI676MC captures extremely fine detail, ideal at f/8 and higher focal ratios. For planetary photography, this means that you often no longer need a Barlow lens to achieve maximum resolution. The square sensor also makes the camera particularly suitable for mosaics and wide-angle applications, such as with fisheye lenses for all-sky monitoring.
With a frame rate of up to 31 fps at full resolution, the ASI676MC is excellent for lucky imaging, real-time observations and video. Readout noise starts as low as 0.56 e-, allowing the camera to deliver true-to-life images even at high gain. The compact weight of only 126 g makes the camera easy to combine with a variety of telescope systems.
Application
The ZWO ASI676MC is suitable for a wide range of applications:
