Tracking Motors: Automatic tracking for your mount
Once you increase the magnification of your telescope, a celestial body moves out of the field of view in seconds due to the rotation of the earth. A tracking motor compensates for this motion by driving the hour axis of the mount at exactly the right speed (sidereal). At Telescoop.nl we supply specific motors for mounts of Bresser, Explore Scientific and Omegon.
Why a tracking motor add?
A tracking motor transforms a manual mount into an instrument suitable for long-term observations and the first steps in astrophotography:
Visual Comfort: The property remains central to the eyepiece stand. This is essential at high magnifications on planets or the moon.
Vibration-free: You no longer have to manually touch the telescope to adjust, which prevents vibrations in the image.
Axis options: Choose a single RA motor (Straight Climb) for basic tracking, or a dual axis set (RA & DEC) for full control via a hand controller.
Compatibility and Assembly
You can find these drive systems under telescope accessories/mounting/mounting accessories/following motors/.
When purchasing, pay close attention to the type of mount you own. A tracking motor from Bresser is designed specifically for their own EQ mounts and is not universally interchangeable with those of Omegon or Explore Scientific. Most systems run on batteries or an external 6V/12V power supply, making them ideal for use in the field.
