The Sky-Watcher Telescope N 130/900 Explorer EQ-2 with motor is a classic among beginners: powerful enough to show deep-sky objects, but still compact and easy to build. With a 130 mm aperture and 900 mm focal length, this Newton mirror telescope delivers sharp, high-contrast images of the moon, planets and bright nebulae.

The 130 mm mirror captures up to 30% more light than a 114 mm telescope, which is immediately noticeable in the amount of detail you see. Think of the craters on the moon, the cloud bands of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn and the bright core of the Andromeda Nebula. Thanks to the focal ratio of f/6.9 the image remains clear and versatile: suitable for both planets and bright deep-sky objects.

The EQ-2 mount allows mechanical tracking of the sky through one axis. Using the included tracking motor you only need to aim - the telescope then automatically keeps the object in focus. This is not only comfortable for longer observations, but also an ideal stepping stone to simple astrophotography of the moon or planets.

The aluminum tripod is height adjustable and stands surprisingly stable even at maximum magnification. The tray in the middle provides space for eyepieces and accessories, keeping everything within easy reach.

Application
This telescope is ideal for those taking their first steps into astronomy, but immediately want something that can do more than an entry-level telescope. With its 130 mm aperture, you can:

  • Viewing the moon in impressive detail (craters, mountain ranges, terminator line).
  • Seeing Jupiter with its cloud bands and four Galilean moons.
  • Admiring Saturn with its rings and Titan.
  • Observing Mars as a small disk with polar cap.
  • Discover bright deep-sky objects such as the Orion Nebula, Andromeda Nebula and the Ring Nebula in Lyra.

For deep-sky photography the mount is too light, but for visual observation the combination of brightness, precision and simplicity is excellent.
