The Explore Scientific Dobson telescope N 305/1525 Ultra Light Gen II DOB is a powerful instrument for serious visual astronomy enthusiasts. With its 305 mm main mirror, this Dobson offers as much as 44% more light collection than the 254 mm model, making fainter nebulae, galaxies and globular clusters much more visible.
The Ultra Light Gen II Series combines maximum aperture with maximum portability. The all-metal truss construction is stiffer and lighter than classic wooden Dobsons. Thanks to its clever modular design, the telescope can be assembled and repacked in minutes. All components including catch mirror cage, truss tubes and elevation wheels fit neatly into the aluminum Rockerbox, making transport surprisingly easy.
The parabolic main mirror of high-quality BK7 glass delivers a high-contrast, sharp image even at high magnifications. The modern 9-point mirror cell with radial bearings provides stable support and easy collimation from the front. Two built-in fans quickly bring the mirror up to ambient temperature, allowing you to observe within minutes without optical turbulence.
The rack & pinion focuser with 1:10 fine adjustment offers precise focusing even when using heavy eyepieces or Barlows. Large aluminum elevation wheels guarantee smooth movement and perfect balance.
With a focal length of 1525 mm and an aperture ratio of f/5, this telescope is ideal for both planetary detail work as deep-sky observations. Despite its size, the telescope remains surprisingly mobile; the whole set weighs only about 30 kg, divided into well portable components.
Application:
The Explore Scientific 305/1525 Ultra Light Gen II Dobson is ideal for:
- detailed observations of Jupiter, Saturn and the Moon;
- exploring nebulae, galaxies and globular clusters with high light output;
- traveling or mobile observers seeking a powerful but compact Dobson.
Not suitable for astrophotography; this telescope is designed purely for visual performances. Thanks to its robust aluminum frame and precise mechanics, it is suitable for both advanced beginners as experienced observers who want to make the leap to a 12″ class telescope.
