Omegon Pro OIII 7nm Filter 1.25″ is an advanced narrowband filter that passes only the light from double ionized oxygen (OIII), with a bandwidth of only 7 nanometers. This precise cutoff eliminates virtually all unwanted wavelengths, including light pollution, moonlight and broadband starlight - while allowing the OIII light from emission nebulae to pass through perfectly.
Thanks to the 7 nm bandwidth, you can see much finer details than with standard OIII filters. Filaments, edges and structures in objects such as the Veil Nebula, Helix Nebula or the Ring Nebula become visible with impressive contrast. This makes the filter particularly suitable for deep-sky observers working under moderately to heavily polluted skies as well as for astrophotographers taking narrowband shots with monochrome or color cameras.
The 1.25″ version is compatible with all common eyepieces and filter wheels. The optics are coated with multiple anti-reflection coating for maximum light transmission within the desired range and minimal stray light.
Advantages
✓ Only 7 nm bandwidth - extremely high contrast operation
✓ Selective OIII filter - ideal for emission nebulae and supernova remnants
✓ Dramatically reduces light pollution and background noise
✓ Suitable for visual observation as well as astrophotography
✓ Compatible with any 1.25″ eyepiece or filter wheel
Specifications
- Type: Narrowband OIII filter (7 nm)
- Connection: 1.25 inches (31.75 mm)
- Mounting: Aluminum, black anodized with fine threads
- Coating: Multiple anti-reflective
- Transmission band: 496-501 nm (OIII), 7 nm wide
- Application: Visual and photographic use in emission nebulae
- Not suitable for: Planetary observation or broadband purposes
Application
The Omegon Pro OIII 7nm Filter 1.25″ is ideal for serious observers and astrophotographers who want to isolate emission nebulae from all interfering light sources. Use it visually on a telescope from 150 mm for ultimate contrast, or combine it in an LRGB or narrowband stack for photography of deep sky objects.
