The Explore Scientific Dobson telescope N 254/1270 Ultra Light DOB is designed for those who want to combine maximum light output with mobility. With its 254 mm mirror diameter, lightweight aluminum truss construction and thoughtful transport solution, this Dobson offers the power of a large telescope without the volume of a classic tube.
Dobson telescopes are known for their simplicity: set up, point and observe. No complicated mounting, no alignment process - immediately ready to use. The Ultra Light Series from Explore Scientific takes this concept to the next level with rigid aluminum construction, radial bearings and a perfectly balanced Rocker Box. Even at high magnifications, the telescope moves smoothly and stably.
The parabolic main mirror made of BK7 glass delivers razor-sharp, high-contrast images without spherical distortion. The 9-point floating system with radial roller bearings keeps the mirror precisely collimated, while two built-in fans quickly bring the mirror up to ambient temperature. That means sharper images, less turbulence and faster observing readiness.
Moreover, the telescope is built entirely of metal - no wood, no moisture problems. The catch mirror pin can be removed without tools and the main mirror is adjustable from the front. All parts are designed for quick set-up and take-down. The elevation wheels, top cage and truss tubes fit neatly into the Rockerbox, allowing the telescope to fit into just two aluminum cases.
With an aperture ratio of f/5 this is a true all-rounder: suitable for both planetary observations and deep-sky objects such as nebulae and galaxies. The comfortable viewing height of 1.15 meters makes prolonged observation enjoyable, whether standing or sitting.
Application:
The Explore Scientific 254/1270 Ultra Light Dobson is ideal for:
- detailed observations of the Moon and planets;
- high-contrast display of nebulae, galaxies and globular clusters;
- visual deep-sky observation with high image sharpness.
Not recommended for astrophotography - this Dobson is optimized for visual use.
Thanks to its lightweight design and stable construction, this model is suitable for both beginners as advanced observers Who seek a large opening with maximum portability.
