These specific wavelengths are dominant in many planetary nebulae and supernova remnants, so this filter makes such objects spectacularly more visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All other wavelengths - including those from streetlights, moonlight and even many starlight - are actively blocked. As a result, the background sky becomes extremely dark and nebular structures light up brightly. Think of fine filaments in the Veil Nebula or the complex edges of the Helix Nebula.
