Kapteyn b is one such world. Located just 13 light years away, this planet is fascinating not only because of its proximity, but especially because of its history. Imagine a world almost as old as the universe itself: that is Kapteyn b.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A planet nearly 11 billion years old<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kapteyn b orbits a red dwarf star called Kapteyn, a small but stable star that was once part of another galaxy. This galaxy was swallowed by our Milky Way billions of years ago. Kapteyn b is therefore a survivor of a lost galaxy. With an estimated age of 11 billion years, this planet is almost twice as old as our Earth.
